Cathodic Protection Training Course

Module 10

Transformer rectifier design and specification.

Transformer Rectifiers are DC power supplies that are manufactured to appear complicated and specialised in order to confuse.

They are designed to impress electrical charges into the ground electrolyte and drain charges from the subject metal of a pipeline or structure.

They can be likened to a domestic battery charger that will accommodate batteries of a variety of size and potential or a power supply that can be bought in a local electronics retailer.

This is simple to model in a laboratory or on a workshop bench.

  • Output requirements for land and swamp applications compared.

  • Safety in design.

  • Safety in operation and maintenance.

  • Practical bench work with small transformer/rectifier.

  • Report and on-line real-time discussion.
